Am I a Nice Girl?

Last night as we were about to say prayers, I was again the last one to put my finger on my nose, but I argued that I ALWAYS have to say the prayer, if not for being fast enough, to being the people pleaser and just saying it because I dont like the awkward silence. Well last night I said I wasn't doing it. My roommates tried to guilt me into saying it and just waiting until I caved. They got pretty close, but I stood my ground(its the small victories). Then this morning as I was doing my morning routine I checked aol.com and saw this article, and since I'm always up for highlighting my good qualities I thought I'd read it, ummm not what I was expecting. But slide 2 caught me- hello- could have just posted a picture of me, and then the slide about perfect food...
I went home for lunch and told Cindy about it. Its now on hold at the library, but Cindy was sure to remind me that it probably doesn't have any pictures- not sure how far I'll get into it. Maybe this will teach me to say 'no' and be competitive, well its worth a shot. right?

Graduation

So back in December I graduated, but UVU only does 1 graduation ceremony in April. I decided not to walk, but as my roommate was gathering all her graduation things (she finished in April) I kinda wanted to have pictures, because it really didn't seem real. I wasn't all about going to the ceremony and stuff, so she let me borrow her stuff and Libby and I went and took pictures, I think it makes it a little more legit.

Tulip Festival

Every year Thanksgiving Point has a Tulip festival right around graduation. Since Ive lived here/they've had the festival, Ive wanted to go. Well this year my friend Sherstin got a group together and we went. Some of the tulips hadn't bloomed yet due to the cold and rainy spring this year, but it was beautiful, I love every chance I get to go to the gardens. The only thing I can think of that would make it over the top is if they found a way to have magnolia trees, and a swamp like area with Cypress Trees and Spanish moss!!! Here are some pics I took. Tulips are a new(last few years) favorite. I like how its just a stem and them the tulip and I like them right before and just as the bloom, I guess its the sreamlineness- if that's a word, that I like. Also I noticed a lot of daffodils. They are a favorite because of Big Fish, and this clip from the movie. ahhh. stop around min 4:36

boutonnieres and corsages

Every month or so we do a girls night (enrichment activity) and this month we went over to the Bishop's house and his wife who is an interior decorator/ wedding planner, taught us how to make basic boutonnieres and corsages. It was pretty fun. Here's one I made.

One of these things is not like the others

The past two days I've spent the evenings with my Nieces and Nephews. On the way to a roller skating party Tues night I took 3 of Kelly's boys. Josh(6) asked why my boyfriend never goes anywhere with me. I said I don't have one. He was shocked. Jake(11) and Cam(9) chimed in and said I needed to get one, so they could have someone jump on the trampoline with them. The last boyfriend to jump with them was more than 5 yrs ago, they still ask about him sometimes. Josh then reminded me that I am the ONLY(his emphasis) one in the family that didn't have a husband. Thanks Josh, never realized that. =) As we were getting out of the car Jake and Cam reassured me that its okay I don't have a husband, because I'm fun. Thanks guys.
Then last night I went to hangout with Libby's 5 and on the drive back to her house(they drove down to mine) Grace(7) and I we chatting and she asked if my husband lived with me in my house. Again I said I don't have a husband, to which she replied, but you have a house, you're a mom (anyone that's not a kid and is female is a mom) and a car and did you know everyone else in your family is married with a husband? you should probably get on that. Thanks Grace, why don't you play with your pollys.

I guess I should quit twiddling my thumbs and get on that, at least for the kids' sake.

Lent resolutions

I don't really do New Years Resolutions, 365 days is just asking to screw up so I do Lent, 40 days is a lot more manageable. For the past two or so years I have given up Mt. Dew. And I do REALLY well and then once Easter gets here I celebrate with a dew. I've realized that Dew gives me headaches, I know just quit drinking it, well I think I'm almost there.

This year for lent I really wanted a challenge so I chose 3 or so 'resolutions' for the next 40 days.
1. No carbonation
2. No eating at places with a drive thru
3. Be LESS shy

I'm doing well on some and others are proving to be more difficult. I have gone to ward activities a few times by myself, and realized I have a lot more friends than I thought I did. Its scary to walk in by myself, and Ive wondered the halls for about 10 minutes or so working up the courage to go in, but Ive done it. I have a friend who never meets a stranger, but also makes you feel like you are the only person there. I don't know how she does it. Well last night was no exception, we were moving from activity to activity, she wondered off to talk to other friends, while I was there standing by myself(PANICKING) remaining calm, working on not constantly being in a group and another friend came over and just starting chatting. I am thankful for friends. I also received to complements from strangers last night, that I have amazing calves, and I have an attractive/sweet voice. Humm, who knew.
